I’m going through camera withdrawl :-(

What a bad time of the year for my camera to be in the shop.  Baby birds are starting to show up, migrating birds are becoming abundant, flowers are erupting in their spring colours and I missed a large almost full moon that would have been perfect to shoot tonight.  I have a Nikon D3200 that I use, but unfortunately on my last trip to Reifel I dropped it and my zoom lens needed to be fixed.  While the lens was being fixed I had to drop the body off as well because a piece of cat hair seems to have lodged itself in the sensor and needed to be removed.

I’ve caught up on my 2015 birds list and haven’t been able to add anymore for a week so far (two more weeks to go).  This weekend was a beautiful weekend too.  We did take a trip to Burnaby Lake on Saturday to see whatever goslings or ducklings may be around.  We weren’t disappointed either.  There were two geese laying in the grass, surrounded by what seemed like 15 little ones, catching a nap in the afternoon sun, while about half a dozen or so people were admiring and snapping pictures.  Other than this set of goslings there were many of the usual mallards and wood ducks, quacking and “beeping” up a storm.  Plus there were some Red Winged Blackbirds, Sparrows and Swallows flying around.  Other than that I just saw one pair of the Green-winged teal, and a couple of Great Blue Heron’s flew overhead.

Sunday was filled with Sunday chores (shopping, cleaning, sleeping in ~ lol) but we did get out for a walk. I took my Sony point and shoot as well as my iPhone and took a few shots with these, as I was going through withdrawl from my camera.

 

I also did a bit of an experiment to see which camera took a better picture.  They say that these days phone cameras can be just as good, if not better than point an shoot.  I took the same picture with both cameras of this little stream below.  I would say the picture quality is different but definitely comparable. 

My new goal is to buy a new camera, but will have to save up over the next year. I’ve got my eye on a Nikon 7100 so far, but have some more time to do more research. For now I have my fingers crossed and am hoping to get my camera back this week, although they did tell me it could take three weeks. Until then I’ll be searching through some of my pictures to find stuff I can share in my blog. Thanks for stopping by!!
