It was a great idea to go to White Rock on this January day as I saw so many lifers. The next one to catch my eye was the Common Loon. I didn’t recognize it at first as it was in it’s non breeding plumage. From September to March their plumage turns to this gray, but in the summer they look like an entirely different bird, with their black heads and black and white spotted back.
My favorite. I have the common loon’s call as my cell phone ring.
