Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park is a great place to walk around. There’s always a good variety of birds hanging out in this city’s oasis. On this day in February there were the usual suspects (ie- Canada Geese, Mallard Ducks, Crows, etc..) but we did see a few other visitors as well.
One was this Common Merganser. He seemed to be just hanging by himself, and perhaps getting fond of the handouts as he did seem to get closer as we stood at the waters edge.
I’ve also come across the Common Merganser in the summertime up in Lillooet. They like to hang out and fish in the spawning channels, loving to dive in the rapids.
