Glaucous-winged Gull [Larus glaucescens] ~ 2016 #17

Glaucous-winged Gull ~ The Pier @ White Rock, BC ~ Jan 24, 2016

Seagulls … I mean Gulls are common sights by large bodies of water, so it was not surprising to see many Gulls flying around while at the Pier at White Rock.  This year however my goal is to try to better identify this species.  Based on the pink legs, red spot on bill and grey wing tips I’m putting my best guess forward and saying this is a Glaucous-winged Gull.  The bird above looks like it’s about 3rd winter while the one below looks like it’s maturing out of it’s 3rd winter and reaching full adulthood.

I do understand Gulls can be difficult due to hybrids.  If you feel this is a different kind of gull please let me know in the comments below, I’m doing this solo so any feedback is greatly appreciated.
