Burnaby Lake is one of my favorite places to go to get a good dose of nature. Super handy that it’s just a 5 minute drive from home. The lake is home to many species of ducks, that fluctuate a bit over the seasons. One of the cutest little dabbing ducks is the Green-winged Teal.

The female (pictured above) is a little more modest in her colouration than the males, and at first sight could be mistaken for a small female mallard. However they are quite a bit smaller, and sometimes if she holds her wings just right you can see the identifiable green patch.

Beautiful shots!
