There was a new spot that I wanted to check out, Colony Farm Regional Park. It’s actually pretty close to me, but had never been there. I took advantage of a bit of clear sky on Saturday to go check it out. The first birds we saw when we pulled up were a pair of Mallards sitting in the lawn close to a large puddle. We took the Garden Trail and it was actually my son who spotted the sparrows in the grass. I was quite pleased to see the gold splotches on their heads. In my two years of taking pictures of birds this was only the second Golden-crowned Sparrow that I’ve captured.
