Black-capped Chickadee [Poecile atricapillus] ~ #14

Black-capped Chickadee ~ Burnaby Lake ~ Dec 2014

These little guys have to be one of my favorites.  I did hear some on my last birding excursion at Burnaby Lake but this time (while at Colony Farm Regional Park) I spotted one (of many by the sounds of it) in the bushes.  However it was too fast for me and had disappeared further into the bushes as I tried to stealthily aim my camera in his direction.  No good pictures from this journey but have included a few from my archive.

My son and I go to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary quite often and especially in the winter they will think nothing of taking sunflower seeds directly from your hand.  They’re so cute as they land on your hand, sometimes giving a little chirp before grabbing a seed and taking off, just to make room for the next guy.  Mac just loves being a human bird feeder.
