Just about 15 minutes after spotting the Goldfinch I noticed a flock of birds in the big tree across the river. I knew they were doves, but couldn’t quite make out what type of Doves. Even from the picture of the flock it was hard to tell but there was one bird on the far left side that I could make out the distinguishing mark on the back of the neck, leading me to believe they were the Eurasian Collared-Doves.
The following weekend I took a roadtrip to Lillooet and in my morning walk (waiting for the café’s muffins to come out of the oven) I spotted a dove (well I heard it first) in a tree a the park, and this one definitely was the Eurasian Collared-Dove. I also went through my archives and noticed I had spotted one of these at Reifel last spring.
I like listening to their Coo-Coo-Coo’ing, it’s somehow very relaxing. It looks like I still need to keep my ears open for these guys though and try to get a non-blurry picture for my collection.
