I spotted these next birds just after I parked at Splitrock, just before starting my stroll around the Upper Channel. These two Mourning Doves were hanging out by the parking lot, but pretty much split as soon as they realized they had been spotted. I’ve never captured this bird before with my camera, but am sure I’ve seen them before.
In doing a bit of research on Dove’s I’m sceptical of one of my past id’s. In my posting of the Eurasian Collared Dove I believe that the top picture is most likely of Band-tailed Pigeons, but not 100% so I’m just going to leave the post as is.
Anyhow I digress. AllAboutBirds says that the Mourning Dove is common throughout all of North America and is one of the most frequently hunted species.

Beautiful birds – enjoy your photo’s!
