My trip to Colony Farm on that June weekend turned out to be pretty fruitful. Not only did I get some cool shots of the Rufous Hummingbird, I was able to add 5 species to my 2015 list. Looking in the tops of trees I noticed one dark bird sitting on some dead branches. I heard of an Eastern Kingbird that had been hanging out in the area and I was hoping that’s what he was. When I went home and went through my pictures I was able to confirm that’s what I had spotted. This guy’s a lifer for me, hopefully I’ll run across one again. The Eastern Kingbird is supposed to be quite the little tough guy, as may be evident by it’s scientific name, Tyrannus Tyrannus.
