During our visit to Colony Farm regional park a few weekends back I was delighted to add the cute little Rufous Hummingbird to my list. We were over by the community gardens and I noticed a few hummers buzzing around. When I got closer I saw that one of them was taking a little break on the fench, and didn’t seem to mind my presence too much, but I was trying to keep my distance so as not to startle it.
As I’m snapping away I noticed the hummer was starting to get puffy and even looked a little angry. Well I guess there was some competition close by…
This picture above was the only picture I got of their altercation. Wish it was clearer but you get the idea.
Now a different hummingbird sat on the fence, looking rather pleased with (her?/him?)self.
