Shorebirds are one of the trickiest birds to id for me. It was actually someone on Flickr who helped me to id these guys as I originally posted my picture as a Dowitcher. I’m thinking the Dowitchers have a little more Rufus in their colouring and as well this Yellowleg seems to have a white belly while the Dowitchers do not.
I’m making a bit of an educated guess here though as to whether it’s a “Greater” or a “Lesser”. What I read on the All About Birds website that the Lesser will always have a totally dark bill while the Greater’s bill is grayish in the non-breeding season.
