The Surf Scoter was another lifer for me. From what I can see on allaboutbirds.org this bird winters in southern Canada and then goes north in the summer. According to the data on ebird.org (White Rock specifically) they start to disappear in mid April and reappear at the end of August. I’m definitely going to keep my eyes open for this cool duck to get some better shots in my archives.
