The Dark-eyed Junco is a member of the Sparrow family. There are two main colourations of this Junco. In the east you will find the Slate coloured form, whereas here in the west we have the Oregon variation.

I see this bird around tonnes, pretty much everywhere I like to bird. However for some reason I find this bird to be really hard to get a good picture of. They move around too quickly and they usually scurry off to the dark underbrush when they are spotted.
