Northern Flicker [Colaptes auratus] ~ 2016 #52

Northern Flicker ~ Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC ~ April 2, 2016

The Northern Flicker is a Woodpecker that many times will be found on the ground, unlike it’s tree loving cousins. The Northern Flickers found in the west are red-shafted while the Northern Flickers found in the east are yellow-shafted.  Both these pictures are of females, as the males have a red patch on their face.
