Northwestern Crow [Corvus caurinus] ~ 2017 #02

The second bird captured was the Northwestern Crow. I was looking towards the water and caught a silhouette of a crow on the stump.  Not hard to pick this guy out in  a crowd.

After doing a little more research I realized there’s also a good chance that these crows could be American Crows whose plumage and structure are identical, although the Northwestern Crow is slightly smaller. The All About Birds website says that they are best distinguished by range and habitat.

I also find getting a good picture of these corvids to be pretty tricky, unless of course you happen to get the right lighting.
