Around the building that I live in there are a pair of Canada Geese that hang out. Every year around this time they show up. I’m wondering if it’s the same pair who a few years ago laid their eggs on the roof of our building. Luckily it was drawn to the caretaker’s attention and she called in wildlife services to rescue the family, and bring them down to earth. These aren’t pictures of my neighbourhood pair, but are shots of various geese seen around the Lower Mainland in the month of February.
FACT: “At least 11 subspecies of Canada Goose have been recognized, although only a couple are distinctive. In general, the geese get smaller as you move northward, and darker as you go westward. The four smallest forms are now considered a different species: the Cackling Goose.” ~ allaboutbirds.org
