Yesterday we headed to Steveston to see the big mast ship that was visiting from Japan. The Kaiwo Maru is a four mast ship from Japan that is used as a training vessel. It said the majestic boat rarely leaves Japan and this was it’s only North American stop.

The event was well attended, as it was a beautiful day. As we were approaching the festival we could see the sails were open, however by the time we (finally!) found parking and journeyed to the boat the sails were all tucked away. Needless to say the boat was quite spectacular regardless.

In the picture about it shows a pirate telling his tales to some kids, while in the background are the crew (men in the white suits and yellow hats) who just disembarked the ship.

The backstory to these photos is that I used my new camera for this shoot, a Nikon D7200. I have been saving up a long time and am quite excited about my new camera. These are my first pictures posted with my new toy and I’m looking forward to getting to know it better. 🙂
