#33 on my list this year is the American Wigeon. Like the American Coot in my previous post I’m surprised that this one was not spotted earlier as it’s very popular in the lakes and ponds in the lower mainland. Saw a bunch at Stanley Park on the 12th, and saw a whole bunch more last weekend at Reifel. Even though the males are more colourful I find the patterns on the female are quite beautiful. I like their beaks too, the black tip on the gray really helps to identify this duck.
