The Marsh Wren was a bird that always escaped my detection. Many times walking through the Reifel Bird Sanctuary I would hear them, but would never see them. One advantage about birding in the spring is that the leaves have not quite come out yet, and so I can actually see the birds hiding in the bushes or tall grasses.
We spotted this little guy across the little pond from us. He was chittering up a storm on his cattail perch. Actually he was quite cute to watch as he’d spin around and around on the cattail while he was vocalizing. I was pretty happy about this first time capture for me. And not only did I spot this one on the Saturday but spotted another the next day while we were at Colony Farm Regional Park. He stayed in the bushes, unlike his outgoing cousin at Reifel.

Love all wrens. Our winter wrens in NYC hop around with their little tails up like toothpicks in a fuzzball.
