Common Yellowthroat [Geothlypis trichas] ~ #48

Common Yellowthroat
Common Yellowthroat ~ Colony Farm Regional Park, Port Coquitlam, BC ~ May 24, 2015

Just after spotting the Black-headed Grosbeak I saw another little bird flitting in the branches. However I was not quite quick enough on the draw and only managed to snap one picture before it flew away (and it seems I focussed on the lichen on the branch and not the bird 😦 ). This was a little Warbler, the Common Yellowthroat. Although they do seem to be common to the area, they are not so common for me as this was the first time I’ve ever spotted one of these cuties. On the way back to the car I spotted them again, way up high hiding in the tree, and with the sun in front of me… it seems I was not going to get a good picture of him this time around. I tried to tweak the exposure and the best I could get was the top picture here. Wish I had more time to stick around to capture some better shots … oh well, better luck next time.
