When bird watching I have a hard time identifying birds in the field, although every year I do get better. Usually I just start snapping away, and wait until I get home to review and id my sightings. That was the case with this little guy. A few of these cuties had caught my eye while walking down a trail, and I thought they were perhaps immature Yellow-rumped Warblers, or perhaps a Black and White (although I hadn’t spotted one of those before in person). It wasn’t until I reviewed the pictures in the comfort of my own home that I noticed the little yellow patch above the eye. I still didn’t quite figure it out until one of the folks I follow on Flickr posted a picture of a Black-throated Gray Warbler that they had spotted in their backyard. So this little guy is not only #71 on my list of birds seen this year, but was a lifer for me!
