After we pulled ourselves out of the muck, and after we passed the Killdeer, we were trudging our muddied selves back down the path towards the car. I spotted some movement out of the corner of my eye and saw these cute little shorebirds. Now I’m not an expert at id’ing shorebirds by any means but I’m pretty sure these little guys are Western Sandpipers. This was a new bird for me and the only pictures I have are from this days’ observation (and unfortunately it seemed to be a bad picture day for me.)

These little guys blended in quite well with their environment and I almost missed them. I’ll have to find some better viewing spots next year to see if I can’t get some better pictures in my repertoire.
