
The Song Sparrow are very common in this area. I will usually see a handful of them, sometimes foraging on the ground and sometimes sitting at the top of a tree singing it’s song.

At Burnaby Lake the Song Sparrows can be spotted along-side their brothers and cousins (fox sparrow, spotted towhee, and dark eyed junco) foraging on the ground near the entrance to the walkway down towards Piper Spit. On this particular day my son laid out some seed on a fence, and I placed my camera at the end of the fence to capture the birds as they were coming in for their treat, which is how I got the picture below.
