
Sparrows can be tricky sometimes, especially when it comes to distinguishing Song vs Fox Sparrows. In fact I’m sure the picture I put up of the Fox Sparrow on last years’ bird list was actually a Song Sparrow.
I think I have it figured out now. I read somewhere that the Song Sparrow has a noticeable stripe coming from the corner of it’s eye, whereas the Fox Sparrow doesn’t.

This guy above has great eyebrows! 😀 I’m pretty sure I got the id’s right this year.
The picture below was from later in February at Burnaby Lake where we were trying to coerce some feathered friends to get their picture taken.
