The first sighting of the Great Blue Heron was at the beginning of February, while walking around Lost Lagoon. Actually it was my son who spotted it and pointed it out to me, in a tree above the pathway. Stanley Park is home to a large Heron nesting colony. I still find it amazing that they continue to nest here despite all the hustle and bustle of city life. We went back a few weeks ago and got a few pictures of herons and their nests.
Even though they’re pretty common around here, I’m still thrilled every time I see one. Last summer I caught this guy below doing some Yoga. I also got some pretty good shots of a Heron taking a bath at Burnaby Lake which I posted to my blog (click here to take a look).
