The picture below was taken as the ducks were doing their “swimming in a circle” ritual. Some ducks dive to get their food, some go up-end, while these characters get a whirlpool going to help stir up food for the group.

Lovely photos, Tracey. I’ve only been to Reifel once. It is such a beautiful place and always a pleasure to see your photos from that area. I haven’t seen the Northern Shoveler swimming circle in a long time; it is fun to watch. I’ve only seen it at Trout Lake.

Thank-you Myriam! My son and I actually went there this past weekend. Gave my son my old camera and he was off trying to chase down pictures of hummingbirds and swallows, while I was practicing with my new toys. We even found some Chickadees who were plucking sunflowers from our hand (usually they’re not so interested in the hand feeding when they can find their food naturally). Reifel’s one of my Happy places, can walk around there for hours. Thanks for stopping by my blog – hope you are having a good week!
