American Robin [Turdus migratorius] ~ 2017 #36

American Robin
American Robin ~ Deer Lake, Burnaby, BC ~ March 4, 2017

My first “official” spotting of the American Robin wasn’t until March, although I know I’d seen them prior. With the climate (usually) being so moderate I guess the Robins don’t see the need to travel. Although this past winter I wish that I had migrated somewhere warmer!   😀

American Robin ~ Rose Gardens, Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC ~ April 2016

FACT: “Robins eat different types of food depending on the time of day: more earthworms in the morning and more fruit later in the day. Because the robin forages largely on lawns, it is vulnerable to pesticide poisoning and can be an important indicator of chemical pollution.” [allaboutbirds.org]
